Wood screws – how to choose them?

When joining different types of wooden elements, it is very important what we will use in this case. Not only their type or size, but also their quality is very important – because the right class of furniture accessories extends the life of the final products.

Technical approval – or what?

All types of wood screws should have so-called technical approval. Their presence can be checked on the head of the screw – there is an embossed marking.

In most cases, screws intended for joining wooden elements are made of metal. Therefore, it is necessary to pay close attention to the applied anti-corrosion solutions, especially if the wooden structure is to be located outside or in a room exposed to moisture. In such a situation, it is very important to properly protect them against corrosion, because rust and leaks resulting from it not only look very unsightly, but also lead to changes in the wood structure.

Determination of quantity

Unfortunately, with wood screws, neither excess nor poorly measured are good. This is because too many accessories in a piece of furniture can lead to a distortion of the structure of the wood (especially when we are dealing with a more delicate variety of wood), and too few of them will not provide the structure with an adequate load capacity.

Most specialists calculate the necessary number of screws using special formulas. In this way, they are able to find out the optimum number of these accessories that must be used in a given wooden structure to ensure optimum conditions.

Quality above all

The fact that you have to choose the right type of screw will be obvious to every specialist. So will the fact that you have to make sure that the quality is as good as possible. As you know, the better the execution of any furniture accessory, the higher the price. However, this is an investment in safety and aesthetics, which is maintained when we have a high quality finish.
